Mainstream Magazine throws a swimsuit party on Mill Avenue! On a hot September night at Studio 301, guests were treated to a Back 2 School Swimsuit Fashion Show, with models illustrating a unique combination of vintage and modern swimwear. The vintage pinup couture had dozens of polka dots and high waisted shorts, while the modern designs displayed sexy, sleek one pieces. Guests enjoyed the fabulous show while also admiring copies of the latest issue of Mainstream Magazine, fresh from print! No fashion show can be complete without talented makeup artists and hair stylists, such as those from the Jennifer Andre Salon. Mainstream Magazine is a free entertainment magazine, covering the latest trends and happenings around the valley. Suite 301 is a chic 3rd floor penthouse and patio bar overlooking Mill Avenue in Tempe.

Phoenix Fashion Week creates a hot August night with fashion preview! Phoenix Fashion Week presented an evening of style and flare, featuring creations from 10 emerging designers and 40 models showcasing their collections. Guests enjoyed cocktails, while shopping designer fashions and admiring the incredible desert views at Degree 270, a chic lounge on the 14th floor of the Talking Stick Resort. A fashion show capped off the evening, with models previewing select pieces from each of the designers as a prelude to Phoenix Fashion Week 2011, which takes place in early October.

Artists throw paint in downtown Phoenix! Fusion was the theme for this month's RAW showcase, spotlighting creations from clothing designers, artists, photographers and musicians. Guests at the Ghost Lounge enjoyed cocktails while admiring collections, listening to smooth sounds and mingling with the artists. The night was topped off with a fashion show and models strutting their stuff through the lounge. RAW is an independent arts organization with chapters in Phoenix, Los Angeles and New York connecting artists and fostering creativity. The historic Ghost Lounge has hosted notable artists and actors since the late 1920's.

Surfing

Hurricane Eugene created big waves for the 2011 US Open of Surfing in Huntington Beach, CA. The US Open showcases the best in surf, skate, BMX and music. This year's event was graced with larger than normal surf thanks to hurricane Eugene, which churned off the coast of Mexico at category 4 strength. More than 500,000 people attended to witness world renowned surfers Kelly Slater, Brett Simpson, Dane Reynolds and others compete for the $100,000 grand prize. In addition to surfing, Converse Coastal Carnage hosted skateboarders from across the globe, while bands that included The Sounds and Jimmy Eat World played live on the beach each evening. This annual event is free to the public and spans a 14-acre stretch of sand along the south side of the Huntington Beach Pier.
